Bowler, the British specialist in performance-oriented Land Rover and Range Rover models, created a supercharged “all-terrain supercar” last year. It only covered 480 miles (772 km) from new and it’s for sale again.
At the Silverstone Auctions May Sale, to be held at the famous racing circuit on Friday, May 20, chassis no. 1 of three right-hand drive examples will go under the hammer.
The representatives of the auction estimate that this model will fetch between £95,000 and £115,000. The exhibit is ready to drive and comes with an intriguing split personality, which you will discover in the text below.
Bowler’s EXR-S is the successor of 2014’s EXR, and is a high-performance road version of the latter. It features an FIA-spec roll cage and a 5.0-liter V8 supercharged gasoline engine.
The powerplant delivers 550 BHP and 625 Nm of torque. Top speed is limited to 250 km/h (155 MPH), and its 0-60 MPH (96 km/h) time is 4.2 seconds.
Bowler built the EXR-S on a hydroformed Range Rover Sport chassis, and fitted the car with a six-speed automatic gearbox. The rear differential comes with electronic control, while the vehicle provides the permanent all-wheel drive with a 50/50 torque split.
The front and rear suspension is fully independent and uses double wishbones. The dampers are from Bilstein, while the springs are Eibach progressive units. Stopping power is provided via a set of Brembo brakes with six-pot calipers.
Even though the Bowler EXR-S comes with a full FIA roll cage, its interior still features all the comfort elements of a modern Range Rover, from dual climate control to a Pioneer audio system with Bluetooth and iPod connectivity.
The dashboard is covered in competition-specific detailing to prevent sun glare (reflections) in the windshield, while the seats are upholstered in leather. The rear has a set of “enormous” speakers, but their output has not been specified. It should not matter anyway, as you might not hear them over the roar of the V8 unit.
