This machine may not be quite as powerful as its 996 cousin, but 98 ponies are more than enough for a blissful riding experience.

Given the fact that its five-digit analog odometer shows less than 4k miles (6,400 km), it’s no wonder this 2001 Ducati 748 looks almost as clean as it did upon leaving the factory. Prior to the latest owner’s acquisition, the two-wheeled stallion was fitted with new timing belts, a PSR clutch slave cylinder, and carbon fiber slip-on exhaust silencers from Remus.

Bologna’s head-turner crawls on Pirelli’s grippy Diablo Rosso III rubber, while its vital fluids have been flushed and the fuel tank resealed since it had last changed hands in 2021. The iconic bodywork penned by Pierre Terblanche conceals a liquid-cooled 748cc Desmoquattro L-twin, whose compression ratio is generously rated at 11.5:1.

Featuring a Marelli fuel injection system and dual overhead cams that actuate four valves per cylinder, the engine is good for up to 98 hp at 11,000 revs. On the other hand, it’ll go about delivering 55 pound-feet (75 Nm) of torque when the crank rotates at approximately 9,000 rpm. A six-speed transmission channels this power to the rear wheel, enabling the 748 to do a quarter-mile jog in 11.8 seconds.

In addition, Ducati’s gladiator can reach 60 mph (96 kph) from a standstill in 3.4 ticks, and it’ll achieve a top speed of 150 mph (241 kph) if pushed to the limit. Its suspension arrangement comprises upside-down 43 mm (1.7-inch) Showa forks at the front and an adjustable piggyback shock absorber at six o’clock.

For stopping power, the Italian beauty uses 320 mm (12.6-inch) discs up north and a single 220 mm (8.7-inch) rotor down south, all of which are paired with Brembo calipers. This seductive 748 is now offered at no reserve on Bring a Trailer, and you may feel free to check it out until September 15, when the auction will end! For now, you’d only need about $6,500 in order to get ahead of the top bidder.
