Lotus has been developing a new race car based on the Evora on its Hethel Test Track. The brand new car is the flagship of the customer racing line, based on the Evora GT4 Enduro, but modified for the Grand-Am road racing league, the Rolex Sports Car Series in America.
As you can plainly see, the wheel arches have been flared to make room for bigger tires while the body was shave of 30 excess kilograms (66 lbs).
Designed for the American series, racing ABS and traction control from BOSCH were added to better control the power from the Toyota-sourced 2GR-FE V6, which for this application displaces 4 liters and provides 450 horsepower.
“The GTC is faster than the GT4 Enduro even though the powertrain remains the same. We’ve managed to reduce the weight, and added ABS and traction control,” said Louis Kerr, Group Lotus’s senior motor sports engineer. “Wider wheels mean customers now have a much greater level of traction and selection of tyres they can use, the flared wheel arches accommodate this, which gives the car its visual definition and makes it look more muscular without hampering the aero.”
