It sure looks like a fun day to be writing about the auto industry. If you had a few laughs watching Adrian Newey smashing his Lamborghini Super Trofeo like an amateur earlier today, wait until you read about Lotus’ latest predicament.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the British automaker is recalling certain 2013 Evora sportscars over a missing window sticker and an incorrectly labeled date of manufacture. Yup, that’s right folks, Lotus wants 28 of its Evoras back to dealerships to put a couple of stickers on it.
Sure, the issue seems to be pretty serious for Lotus, because the missing label helps identify the vehicles’ temporary exemption from a federal safety requirement, but we still think this is the most absurd recall we have ever come across. And we’ve reported a lot of them, ‘cause the automotive industry is packed with flawed cars, right?
On the other hand, when’s the last time you heard about Lotus recalling any of their vehicles? Maybe they’re just perfect besides some stickers being meddled with from time to time... Sticker gremlins perhaps? Jokes aside, the concerned Evoras were assembled between September and November 2012 and Lotus says owner will be notified this month for a free label replacement.
