Lotus once again has to issue a recall due to oil leakage issues and this time the campaign affects the supercharged 2011 Evora with a manual gearbox.
The affected models were built starting from September 2010 through September 2011. Lotus explains that there are 80 cars affected in the US, but the global number is larger than that.
We are talking about the engine oil cooler hose, whose position may allow it to rupture. This would send the oil all around the engine compartment and the engine damage is only a part of the potential hazards that can be generated by this.
For example, oil could spill onto the road or the car’s wheels, causing a crash. Even worse, it could also cause a fire. Lotus has started contacting the owners, who will have to visit their dealers in order for these to replace the aforementioned hose.
