Lotus Presents Evora S and Evora IPS

Expected to be part of the great unveilings at the Paris Auto Show in October, the goodies prepared by the Brits from Lotus are slowly losing their shroud of mystery and reveal themselves to the world. The carmaker announced today two premieres for the show, the new interpretations of the Evora, dubbed S and Intelligent Precision Shift (IPS).

At the core of the S version of the Evora lies a mid mounted, transverse 3.5l V6 engine which develops 350 PS at 7,000 rpm and 400 Nm of torque at 4,500 rpm. With a maximum speed of 172 mph (276 km/h), the car is capable of reaching the Holy Grail 60 mph in 4.6 seconds. The engine is controlled via a 6 speed manual transmission.

The Evora S comes with a sport pack as standard. The pack features a sport button allowing control over the throttle response and the activation of the exhaust by-pass valve. The rev limit is raised when the button is pushed, while the dynamic stability control settings are also changed.

The IPS version of the Evora comes packing the same 3.5 l V6 engine, only a little bit less powerfull. The unit develops only 280 PS at 6,400rpm and a maximum torque of 350 Nm at 4,700rpm. The novelty brought by the model is the 6-speed automatic transmission, a rara avis in recent years for Lotus. The unit gives the driver control with either automatic drive modes or manual paddle shifts.

The two versions of the Evora will be presented, as said, at the Paris Auto Show in October. Those waiting for the real rebirth of Lotus promised back in June might be a bit disappointed by these two Evora versions, as they were expecting a revolutionary vehicle on the shows' floor.
