Lotus has announced the introduction of a bespoke division for its customers.
Called Lotus Exclusive, the new sub-brand is made for both future and existing customers and proposes unique paint finishes and graphics. Customers can also order interior trim in unique colors to make their cars individual. At first, the Lotus Exclusive division will only handle orders for the European market, but customers from other markets will eventually be able to have their Lotuses customized by the company’s official bespoke division as well.
Lotus isn’t a newbie when it comes to personalized cars for individual customers, but the introduction of this program is the first proper step in this particular direction. Only some customers could order personalization for their cars until now, but all European Lotus clients can now benefit from the services offered by the new division.
Thanks to a bespoke arm, Lotus can now earn more money for itself without increasing its range or dramatically raising sales. Other carmakers have their own bespoke divisions and even Ferrari earns more money by tailoring each car after the specific requests of their clients.
As usual with bespoke branches, Lotus Exclusive gets unique colors and color combinations, as well as materials that aren’t commonly available in the range. The British company hasn’t mentioned any plans to further raise the performance of their cars through this new division. However, few bespoke departments offer such services, so Lotus’s decision is understandable.
A quick look through Lotus’s Exclusive brochure shows options similar to Britain’s MINI: you can get the Union Jack on your roof or on the mirror caps, racing stripes, a checkered flag and many other graphic elements. Clients can order twin stripes, stripes on the side sills, a single stripe or asymmetric stripes for their bespoke Lotuses.
All Lotus models can order several interior premium leather colors and stitch options. Naturally, the finish level of such customization is of OEM quality, and customers can order colors that aren’t in the brochure. After all, this is a bespoke division, right?
