Lotus Has Created an Online Agility Test - Are You Good Enough for the Evora 400?

We’re all brilliant drivers... in our minds, but what about the real world? Well, Lotus is not your police officer, but they are willing to put your skills to the test online. The question they ask is whether you’re good enough for the new Lotus Evora 400.

The Norfolk people have devised an agility test that is now on their website. We’ve seen this sort of hand-eye coordination in many smartphone games, but it’s all nicer when it comes from Lotus. Oh and it’s damn hard.

Lotus doesn’t think you’re good enough, hence the #itsnotforyou hashtag, but if you beg to differ, you should give it a try. You’ll even be able to compare yourself using the leaderboards - the current record stands at a little over 80 seconds. After we tried our hand, we suspect it was a machine that pulled out such a move.

As for the Evora 400 itself, Lotus seems to have moved the focus away from the GT label a little bit - we won’t even talk about the fact that they call this a “supercar”. When the car debuted earlier this month at the Geneva Motor Show, Lotus acted in a very Lotus-ian manner, talking about how the 400 is lighter and more powerful than its predecessor.

While the supercharged 3.5-liter V6 in the middle of the car now delivers 400 hp (a massive 55 hp boost), weight has been reduced by 49 lbs (22 kg) to 3,119 lbs (1,415 kg).

Basically, this is an Evora that can lap the company’s Ethel test track just as quick as the much more spartan Exige S. Yes, that limited slip diff (only for the manual) seems to be doing its job well.

As for the sales details, we have both good and bad news. The first is that, after a one-year US market hiatus (caused by an airbag matter), the Evora will be back in America for the 2016 model year.

As for the second, pricing has gone up by roughly 10 percent. That might not sound like much, but we’ll end up with a GBP70,000 (no US pricing announced) Lotus that will have to compete with stuff like the upcoming turbocharged Porsche 911. And that might prove more difficult than Lotus’ game.
