Lotus' Frankfurt booth will showcase three new goodies, a special edition, as well as two options existing models.
We shall start with the fresh Elise S, which will put the Elise SC to sleep. The vehicle will use a new 1.8-liter supercharged engine that delivers 220 hp, with the company promising a hefty torque figure. In addition to having more muscle, the Elise S will also be kinder to the environment.
As for the other two novelties, things are still unclear. Lotus has offered us hints on both models, but these details are vague. The company said that one of them will be a vehicle that will stand on the performance podium of Lotus cars, being one of the fastest cars the company has ever built, while the other will allow the carmaker to return to a racing series. We expect the first to be a facelifted Exigboth to be connected to the Exige: the first should be the facelifted version, while the latter could be the Exige Rally Car.
It is now time to talk about the aforementioned options. First of all, the entry-level 1.6-liter Elise gets a Serial Precision Shift (SPS) automated manual gearbox that offers both an automatic mode and a sequential one, having paddles mounted on the steering wheel. In addition to that, the Evora S will receive the Evora's Intelligent Precision Shift (IPS) paddle-fitted automatic transmission.
Last but by no means least, Lotus will great us with its most powerful car ever, the Evora GTE road car. The vehicle came to the world at the 2011 Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance, but it was originally only conceived as a limited edition for Asia.
Now, Lotus wants to also allow other markets, such as the US, to enjoy the monster. So, what are we dealing with? It's simple: 444hp, and a body with multiple carbon fiber elements.
