Promoting various Hollywood blockbusters is what some carmakers are doing these days. Whether they are called Mercedes-Benz, Audi or Chevrolet, all are trying to get as many models featured in the movie and attract the public with one-off cars.
Usually, Formula 1 teams are not into all that movie hype but Lotus F1 Team made an exception for Mad Max: Fury Road and we have to say it: the result is spectacular.

Before we start getting into specifics, let's prepare for what you're about to see. Imagine the entire zombie apocalypse that hit the world in The Walking Dead would be instantly concentrated on a Formula 1 circuit. You would need more than a Formula 1 car to get out alive from this scenario, right?

This is where Lotus F1's Mad Max Hybrid comes into play. The regular F1 racer has been reimagined for a post-apocalyptic future in the maddest way possible, involving rudimentary but effective weaponry.

So, the prototype uses spikes, flame throwers mounted on the sides and five-spoke wheels with chubby heavy-duty off-road tires, found in dual configuration on the rear axle. We saved the best for last: a set of skulls mounted on the Formula 1 car's front wing.

Unfortunately, you'll have to travel to Spain to see the prototype, as Lotus F1 will put the car on display in Barcelona this weekend, in the company of two cars from the Mad Max: Fury Road movie: Max's Interceptor and Nux's coupe.

Top tip: keep an eye on the Spanish Grand Prix on Sunday, because Roman Grosjean and Pastor Maldonado will have their F1 cars covered in Mad Max livery. Also, their helmets will include Immortan Joe's horror mask, so keep your eyes wide open.
