French automaker Peugeot is accused by the British Lotus F1 Team of copying one of their ads in the 208 GTi teaser video.
Called “Guitar” and released about a month ago, the clip features the world’s most popular string instrument imitating a car accelerating and changing gears until the “GTi is back” message appears, followed by a short flash of Peugeot’s new high-performance supermini.
In case you didn't know, the same scenario was used by Lotus F1 back in 2012 to showcase their new Formula 1 race car, and the British couldn’t refrain from making fun of Peugeot once they found out the French company decided to advertise a “guitar-powered” 208.
“They say imitation is the highest form of flattery. We say lions sometimes lack a bit of imagination. Lotus F1 Team: Our engines rev higher, and our ideas are 100% original,” says the message that comes with Lotus’ “Deja Vu” clip.
