Lotus is currently struggling to keep things afloat and for all those wondering why we care so much about the British marque, we have a video that sheds some light on the matter. The clips shows a Lotus Exige V6 Cup chasing a Ferrari 458 Speciale, offering us one glorious track battle.
The action takes place on Spa Francochamps and it may just as well serve as an answer for a question not too many people ask - what constitutes a spa for car aficionados?

Retuning to the two track soldiers here, while the Lotus is a sportscar and the Prancing Horse is a supercar, the two cars are surprisingly similar. Both have a gene pool that includes generations and generations or racecars and both are track-friendly incarnations of road models.

The battle was intense

Nonetheless, while the lightweight Lotus may just have an advantage when it comes to braking, Maranello’s child has an extra 250 prancing ponies. On a track like Spa, this is an asset you can’t beat.

The Lotus driver does try his best though and, to our delight, manages to keep up with the 458 Speciale. Alas, after a few minutes of chasing what is probably the last naturally aspirated Ferrari V8, the guy in the Exige gets throttle happy and almost loses it. The driver recovers and... we’ll let you see what happens next in the footage below.

PS: we’re not sure about the position of the Speciale’s Manettino, but the Exige was driven in the partially-naked Race mode.
