Lotus Motorsport has just reported the successful completion of a preliminary shakedown test for both their Exige R-GT Rally car and IndyCar engine. Trials were conducted on front of Group Lotus Director of Motorsport Claudio Berro on December 22nd at Dallara's headquarters in Varano Melegari, Italy.
Now, the car will be shipped to America, where it will undergo a shakedown starting next month. The Exige R-GT and S are both powered by an Evora-derived supercharged 3.5-liter V6, but the rally racer has less power because of FIA rules that forced 34mm air restrictors onto it.
Testing will also continue new year ahead of the start of the 2012 FIA World Rally Championship season, where the Exice will for the first time fight for a FIA GT title.
