Lotus might not have the financial strength it needs to put new cars on the road, but on the track it’s still the king of Britain and its racetracks. Today, the company’s racing division launched a brand new track-focused version of the Evora called the GX.
The car was designed by Lotus to compete in the American Grand-Am Rolex Sport Car Series. To get it to become a competitive racer, they’ve added a body kit with flared wheelarches and a number or aerodynamic upgrades, such as a chin splitter and extended ground-works skirts.
The Evora GX has yellow headlights and fog lights, plexiglass windows with flaps on the side, as well as a Grand-Am approved roll cage. To take weight off the car, the engine cover, doors and roof are all made from carbon-fiber.
Power comes from a 4-liter V6 tuned to 440 hp and 324 lb-ft (440 Nm) of torque. The shifting is done using a six-speed sequential transmission. All Evora GXs will be built to order with prices from $335,000 in the US.
