Lotus Evora GT4 Gets Mansells Behind the Wheel

For our Formula 1 loving fathers, the names Nigel Mansell and Lotus in the same sentence spell, for lack of a better word, greatness. The former F1 champion made its series debut behind the wheel of a Lotus car 31 years ago, kicking off a career which will remain written down in the Formula 1 books for years to come.

Now, it's time for a couple of other Mansells to make, if possible, history. Nigel's sons, Leo (26) and Greg (23), will follow in their father's footsteps by getting behind the wheel of the Evora GT4 Endurance car for the Dunlop Dubai 24 hour race which starts on Friday, 14 January.

The two Mansell will be joining the Lotus GT factory driver Johnny Mowlem, WTCC driver Stefano D’Aste and Gianni Giudici to take the vehicle round the clock as many times as needed for it to successfully complete the event.

“It’s a great feeling to see both my boys working with Lotus and it brings back some very fond memories for me,” said the champion father of the two boys.  “But F1 is obviously very different to endurance racing and as with any 24 hour race, the event in Dubai represents a big challenge.”

“What’s special about the race in Dubai though is it will not only test their endurance under extreme conditions but they will have the added challenge of adapting very quickly to a relatively new car. I think they’ll do well and they have some well established drivers on the team to work with too – so hopefully they’ll all complement each other and the team dynamic will be strong.”
