Lotus Evora 400 Hethel Edition Boasts Exclusive Heritage Colors

For £72,000 or roughly the retail price of a Porsche 911 Carrera, Lotus Cars will sell you the Evora 400. Add £3,000 to the mix and you get the Hethel Edition, a model that celebrates 50 years since Colin Chapman founded the Lotus factory in Hethel.

Such an anniversary couldn’t go unnoticed, which is why the Evora 400 Hethel Edition ups the ante with three retro colors, matching trim, and a commemorative build plate. The exterior paint finishes come in the form of Essex Blue, Motorsport Black, and Racing Green, while the majority of the cabin can be wrapped in black leather, red leather, or Alcantara.

Jean-Marc Gales, the chief executive officer of Group Lotus plc, declared that “The Evora 400 is the latest in a long line of world-beating sports and racing cars to have all been hand built in Hethel over the last 50 years. We are immensely proud to be part of the community and it is entirely fitting that this limited edition be dedicated to our home. We’re looking forward to celebrating our connections to Norfolk throughout 2016, and more Lotus Hethel Anniversary news will be announced soon.”

In other words, Jean suggests that the Elise, Exige, and 3-Eleven are next in line.

Powered by a supercharged 3.5-liter V6 engine sourced from Toyota, the Lotus Evora 400 Hethel Edition produces 400 ponies and 302 lb-ft (410 Nm) of torque. Thanks to an unladen weight of 3,075 pounds (1,395 kg) for the manual-equipped model, the British sports car can sprint to 62 miles per hour (100 km/h) in 4.2 seconds, on to a top speed of 186 miles per hour (300 km/h). The automatic, on the other hand, is limited to 174 miles per hour (280 km/h) and it defeats the purpose of such a sporty car.

Due to the fact that with great power comes great responsibility, all Evora 400 models boast a mechanical limited-slip differential, two-piece discs from AP Racing measuring 370 mm in diameter, and aero bits and bobs such as the three-element rear wing and completely flat floor. In related news, Lotus is working on the roadster body style for the Evora 400 and the 4-Eleven. The latter of the two models will debut in 2017.
