Back in 2010 when Lotus came up with an ambitious plan to introduce no less than six new models and we all knew that it wasn’t going to happen. At the moment, the British carmaker’s situation isn’t looking too good. However, things might change and it will all start with the Esprit.
Various media reports showed that Lotus would cancel the Esprit, but it seems that the vehicle is on track to becoming reality. Aslam Farikullah, Chief Operating Officer at DRB-HICOM, the company that owns Lotus, has recently said that all of the 1,189 British jobs at Lotus will stay in place and that the carmaker will upgrade the Elise, Exige and Evora.
Unfortunately, nothing has been said about the other five models announced at the 2010 Paris Motor Show. Lotus has to make sustained efforts if it wants to see its situation improve, as so far this year the company has only delivered 800 cars.
