Lotus Elise Club Racer Comes to Australia

Aussies now have an additional reason to visit their local Lotus dealership, as the British sports car manufacturer just debuted its Lotus Elise Club Racer in Australia. The car offers new features like new and exclusive colour schemes, bespoke interior and lightweight components. The Elise CR offers you the opportunity to go fast and still keep the CO2 emissions down.

The Club Racer is based on the Elise S, so it has a 1.8 liter four-cylinder engine producing 100 kw (136 HP). That might not sound like a lot, but when you discover that the car only weights 860 kg, you might change your mind about that. The CR gets retro with four classic colour schemes used by the company back in the ‘60s - Elite Yellow, Carbon Grey, Sky Blue and Old English White.

Apart from the colour scheme, Lotus also offers CR badges, anthracite lightweight six-spoke alloy wheels with Yokohama AD07 LTS tires, lightweight microfibre comfort seats, anthracite gearknob and handbrake sleeve, the Club Racer (CR) logo hand embroidered on the seat headrest and the unique anodised aluminium flooring for the driver and passenger.

“Special editions of the award winning Elise have always proved popular with our customers around the world, and I expect the Elise Club Racer to be no different. We have taken colour schemes from our past, used on the Elite and Elan in the 1960s, and cleverly brought them up to date with a modern feel to the interior. The whole design package is contemporary with a classic feel, which of course matches the peerless ride and handling of a Lotus and the convertible experience of the Elise perfectly,” said Luke Bennett, Director of Lotus Cars.
