Lotus F1 Team and Renault Sport F1 have announced the extension of their chassis-engine partnership for the 2014 Formula One season and beyond.
In other words, Lotus F1 Team will be powered by Renault’s brand new 1.6-liter turbocharged V6 unit that was designed to meet FIA’s new technical regulations, which come into force this year.

The engine features a new energy recovery system, has a 15,000 rpm rev limit and a combined output of 760 bhp. 600 horses are provided by the internal combustion engine, while 160 come from the energy recovery system.

“Lotus F1 Team and Renault Sport F1 have enjoyed a successful partnership these past few years and we look forward to continue to build on our relationship and collaboration in 2014 and beyond. It is the beginning of a new era in Formula 1 and we are pleased to embrace it together with Renault Sport F1, said Matthew Carter, Lotus F1 Team CEO.

Lotus F1 is the third team to use Renault power this season. The other two are Infiniti Red Bull Racing and Scuderia Toro Rosso.
