The Spaniard had a terrific run on Sunday at Indianapolis, calmly taking the win after most of his rivals fell of their bikes. Pedrosa had a very good start from pole position and managed to put a small gap between him and second place Valentino Rossi.
The difference in the track's surface and grip of the Indianapolis circuit made its mark on several riders' performance. After only four laps in front Dani Pedrosa neglectfully negociated a tight right-hander and lost grip, falling of his bike.
The Spaniard riding for Honda did however managed to get up in the race and finished 10th salvaging the race from a total dissapointment.
By this time things in front started to heat up, Jorge Lorenzo putting ferm pressure on first placed Valentino Rossi. On lap nine the Spaniard managed to overtake the Italian at the end of the long straight in front of the pits and Rossi fought hard to stay within Lorenzo range.
A lap later, Rossi went wide into a corner gathering track debris and later fell as he lost grip into a corner. He managed to get up on his bike, but eventually retired from damaged throttle.
Alex De Angelis recorded his first MotoGP podium as he finished second after a very composed ride. He looked solid for qualifying when he placed fourth. Both Americans, Hayden and Edwards had good runs as expected. Hayden finished third ahead of Honda's Dovizioso, after a thrilling race-long battle, while Edwards finished fifth.
Marco Melandri suffered a high-side when he was in seventh place, just where Pedrosa fell off his bike earlier in the race. He are the riders who finished the race at Indianapolis:
