There is no point in trying to weep for the Maybach Manufaktur car brand anymore, as the last uber-luxury sedan wearing the double-M on the hood was built back in December 2012.
This doesn't mean that Maybach is forever dead though, as the moniker will be resurrected once again in 2014, only this time it will be model and not a car brand.

The elongated Mercedes-Benz S-Class we see in the adjacent YouTube video is a pre-production prototype of the upcoming S-Class X222 Maybach, which is set to be unveiled at the end of 2014, at the Guangzhou Motor Show in China.

With an up to 30 cm (12 inches) longer wheelbase than the long-wheelbase V222 version of the current S-Class, the new Maybach will be similar in overall size and interior amenities with the defunct Maybach 62 model.

Mercedes-Benz will position its starting price in the $200-250,000 range, which sits between the Bentley Flying Spur and the Rolls-Royce Phantom, while the comfort and safety features will put it above its two main competitors.
