On Sunday, a red Ferrari 488 GTB crashed into a double-decker bus in central London, England. Local unconfirmed reports say that the car was a rental and that local rapper Swarmz was behind the wheel.
Footage of the aftermath is available at the bottom of the page, in two separate videos. The 488 GTB smashed into the London double-decker from the side, causing a visible dent. The impact was so powerful that bits of the Ferrari pierced the bus and were left sticking out.
Sky News says that the incident happened on Northumberland Avenue, near London’s Trafalgar Square, in the 20 mph zone. Based on the videos, it looks like the Ferrari came in at considerable speed, with the driver losing control and veering into the bus, before jumping the curb.
The good news is that no one was injured. The Sun says there were two people in the Ferrari and both walked away unharmed before the crowd of curious passers-by and media gathered. It has not yet been determined whether there were passengers on the bus, but even if they were, there were no injuries reported.
“Police were called at approximately 13:50hrs on Sunday May 24 to reports of a damage-only collision on Northumberland Avenue, Westminster. No reports of injuries and no arrests,” the police say in a statement.
An investigation is underway and an arrest could still happen, if the driver is found at fault. The same media outlet notes that, right after the crash, Swarmz posted a video to his Instagram Stories, showing the wrecked Ferrari in the background, while he said something along the lines of “never crashed a Ferrari before, bruv.”
Police are yet to say whether Swarmz was at the wheel or in the passenger seat.
Swarmz is a London-based rapper with a considerable following online, even though his fame is yet to cross national borders. At just 23, he has a net worth estimated at over £1 million ($1.2 million) – which is another piece of good news, since the Ferrari he presumably crashed by speeding is worth upward of £250,000 ($305,000).
