Do you want to hear the roaring racing engine of this Le Mans prototype, built around a Lola chassis? Well, sadly, all you will be able to hear is the sound of pebbles, hitting the inside cover of the wheelarch, because this LMP car is very special - it’s electric,
It is the brainchild of an ex-politician who founded Drayson Racing, a team which has been hard at work for the last two years, developing an all-electric Le Mans prototype, dubbed the B12/69EV (a name only beaten in the time it takes to remember by the MP4-12C).

The stunning-looking racing car is completely silent, not even hinting at the 850 hp electric motors which propel it forward with immense thrust. The car recently made its official racing debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, where it set the fastest course time for an EV, managing to finish the 1.856 km (1.16-mile) hillclimb run in just 53.53 seconds, comfortably beating the Nissan Leaf NISMO RC, and its time of 60.18 seconds, as well as the very quick Tesla Roadster’s time of 58.77.

However, we do have a hunch that this monstrously powerful machine could have gone even faster, as it is a fully-fledged racing car in all respects. Enjoy the silent video, and try to begin getting used to cars (even ones designed specifically for racing) not having any sound, but going extremely fast, regardless, as this is the direction in which things are headed.
