The winner of last year's Raybestos Rookie of Year title, Joey Logano, managed to showcase his post-win celebratory skills (read burnouts) during the Pennzoil Ultra Victory Challenge at the Charlotte Motor Speedway, prior to the All Star race this weekend.
Logano impressed the audience and was named victor of the third annual competition. According to the rules, the $10,000 prize won by Logano will be donated to his charity of choice, the USA Paralympics Hockey team.
For 2010, Pennzoil allowed drivers to show their might during a longer freestyle demonstration without a specific course to run. Each of the participants entered identically prepared NASCAR Racing Experience stock cars and had 30 seconds to impress the judges.
Aside for Logano, the competition also witnessed rubber smoke coming from the cars of Kevin Harvick, Jaime McMurray, Clint Bowyer, Kyle Busch, Ryan Newman and David Reutimann.
Logano managed to get 67 out of the 70 possible points and win the trophy. Reutimann was runner-up, with 61, while Clint Bowyer finished third. Kyle Busch was disqualified after making contact with the wall.
"It's pretty cool. I got this awesome trophy and I get $10,000 for my charity that I picked which is the USA Paralympics Hockey Team. It's something that I kind of grown bound to helping them. ... It's cool because they're here today and they brought the gold medals [that they won in a competition in Vancouver], so it's a pretty perfect situation," Logano said after the event.
