Log Truck Falls on Its Side and Kills One More Tree in the Process

Log truck accident in Australia 1 photo

In the eyes of eco-warriors, the sight of an oil tank truck driving on the road is enough to make their vision go blurry and fill them with a burning hate for that driver and the company he works for. In the case of log trucks, though, you don’t really have to be an environmentalist freak to feel a little upset about what they’re doing.
But you carry on with your life and don’t even bother putting a curse on them, as that would be bad karma for you. You let fate decide whether what they’re doing is legal or at least moral, and needs to be punished or not. And in some lucky cases like the one below, you also happen to have a dashcam installed.

The accident happened on a road in Australia, and according to the video description, the driver got away almost unhurt, with just some minor cuts and bruises.

“Instant karma” some would jump to point out, even though it wasn’t even close to being instant. For that to happen, the first tree they cut had to fall over the truck and flatten it as it stood. But the truck looks as unflattened as they come going into that series of bends.

The driver doesn’t necessarily seem to make any sudden maneuvers, and yet somehow his truck decides to take a nap on its left side despite the driver’s desperate attempts to prevent that from happening.

Looking at the footage for the second time, you’ll see why equal transversal weight distribution is so important, as the main cause of the incident suddenly becomes clear: the truck was transporting only a few logs, but extremely large ones. With the one on top being the largest.

Since the base was made out of three smaller logs, the one on the top could not sit in the middle, but was instead resting on the left-hand side of the vehicle, severely affecting its balance. All it took was a succession of left-right turns to get the masses shifting and eventually topple the whole rig over. And since the wolf changes its skin but not its nature, the logger knocked over one more tree in the process. Well, at least he got something out of the whole incident.
