Loeb Will Not Leave Citroen in the WRC

Sebastien Loeb insisted that he has no plans to move from Citroen to any other team in the World Rally Championship. Following rumors that the Frenchman has been approached by Volkswagen for the 2012 campaign, when the German manufacturer plans a big comeback into the series, the 7-time world champion said such a switch would be illogical.

Loeb said that he doesn't have anything more to prove in the series and that he would rather drive for the team that he has been most successful with in his WRC career rather than take on a new challenge.

For sure it would prove something,” said Loeb when asked if winning the WRC title with any other team than Citroen would prove something, “but at the moment I don't want to change. I have always had a good car with Citroen and I had no reason to change.

We won everything together, so now maybe it's a bit late to change. I don't know, for sure, it could prove something, but I don't need to prove anything,” he added, in an interview with WRC's official website.

Before prolonging his stay at Citroen for another season, at the end of last year, Loeb had told the media that he contemplates retirement from the series. And last week he brought the subject back to media attention.

I don't know if I will be driving next year,” he said last week, with Citroen motorsport director Olivier Quesnel echoing his comments later on.

I don't think he knows what he will be doing next year. It's too early for himself to decide. He knows, of course, he can stay with Citroen. Maybe he will stop, maybe he will go to endurance racing and maybe, why not, he will go to Volkswagen, but honestly, I don't know,” said Quesnel.
