Loeb Even More Determined to Win WRC Title

Winning a 7th consecutive world title in the World Rally Championship will not be an easy task for Sebastien Loeb. The Frenchman has barely won his last crown in the series by a single point from Ford rival Mikko Hirvonen, and the Finn will most likely enter the 2010 season even more determined to break Loeb's domination in the WRC.

However, business seems to go as usual at the Citroen headquarters prior to the season opening Rally Sweden, as team principal Olivier Quesnel told the media that he expects nothing less than 7 wins from Loeb in 2010.

As compared to last season, this year's WRC will have 13 rounds. 7 out of 12 rounds last season were barely enough for Loeb to clinch another title in the series, which means he needs to at least match his last year's performance if he wants to remain unbeatable in the WRC.

We set out aiming for the championships again, of course. We have set Sebastien the target of winning seven rallies this year,” said Quesnel, while also emphasizing the importance of Dani Sordo finally becoming rally winner in the WRC.

At the same time, the team is all sure that the first win of the year for Dani is not far away. He will soon be on the podium and on the top step,” added the Citroen official.

As for Loeb, the Frenchman admitted that the fight against Hirvonen throughout the 2009 season has made him even more eager to continue his winning streak in the WRC.

Last year made me want it even more, it makes me more determined. It's easy to look back and think about how we could do things differently, but that's all behind. We will be stronger this year,” added Loeb.
