The Alpina stand at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show was the host of a world premiere: the D3 Bi-Turbo models (both Sedan and Touring). However, those weren’t the only cars that made a great impression at their stand. The company’s first SUV was also there.
The Alpina XD3 Bi-Turbo was based on BMW’s X3 xDrive35d model. It retains the same engine, with a slight upgrade in power, reaching an impressive 350 HP and 700 Nm of torque, getting dangerously close to the M50d models that have 3 turbochargers and 381 HP.
Since the XD3 is smaller than an X5, the performances are pretty close: 4.2 seconds to 100 km/h (62 mph) for the Alpina, 5.3 seconds for the F15 X5 M50d. At the same time, being a diesel, the XD3 takes only 7.6 liters of diesel to travel 100 km (31 mpg).
However, in the video below, the emphasis is on the luxurious style of the car. Being done by the German manufacturer, the XD3 is definitely one of the most luxurious ‘X3’s you can get. It has alcantara everywhere and the best possible leather you can buy. The dash is done in Alpina traditional style and the seats and other details around the car will always let you know that this is no ordinary SUV.
