BMW’s Special i8 that is going on sale today at the 2014 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance was unveiled yesterday and it’s a stunner, just like the Germans promised.
The unique car is featuring Individual Frozen Grey Metallic paint while Dalbergia Brown leather (a special type of leather that was tanned using dye derived from plant extracts) upholstery is decorating the insides.

Contrasting stitching in BMW’s trademark i Blue decorates the special leather while the seatbelts keep a similar look. The car is also fitted with every possible option from the catalogue, including the laser headlights that are still pending approval in the United States.

The headrests have the i8 logos embroidered in while the side sills have the ‘Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance Special Edition’ words laser engraved on them. To top everything off, a plaque on the rear parcel shelf has the signatures of BMW executives that helped the i8 come to life (Ian Robertson, Herbert Diess, Adrian von Hooydonk, Benoit Jacob, Ulrich Kranz, Carsten Breitfeld).

In the flesh this i8 looks absolutely breathtaking, unlike anything you’ve ever seen before, as you’re about to see in the photo gallery below. Considering just what else it’s capable off, it’s hard not to take your hat off to it.

Under the CFRP body hides a hybrid powertrain made up of 3 motors, one internal combustion unit and 2 electric ones. Altogether they make 362 HP and 570 Nm (420 lb-ft) of torque and they can switch between all-electric and hybrid propulsion in less than a blink of an eye. The winner of this beauty will truly be a blessed man or woman. All proceeds will go to the Pebble Beach Company Foundation and the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance.
