We have to admit that the press photos of the 2019 Porsche Cayenne don't quite do the SUV justice. And that's because the high-riding Zuffenhausen machine looks more poised in the flesh, with the machine adorning the Porsche booth at the Frankfurt Motor Show.
The difference between the official pics and the real-world presence of the third-generation Cayenne is most notable when it comes to the posterior of the vehicle, which comes with sharp stying cues.

Zuffenhausen is using the Frankfurt Motor Show to drop the 2019 Cayenne Turbo and boy, oh boy, does the 550 hp, 567 lb-ft incarnation of the SUV have performance news for us.

For instance, the twin-turbo 4.0-liter pushes the machine to 60 mph in 3.9 seconds, which makes it 0.1s quicker than the previous generation's Turbo S, while also meaning the top dog (for now) is just 0.1s behind the 2018 911 GT3. Top speed? An adrenaline-delivering 177 mph.

The 2019 Cayenne Turbo comes with a MSRP of $125,650, with the super-SUV set to reach US dealers in fall 2018.

For now, anybody willing to grab a Cayenne without the Turbo badge will have to choose between the standard and the S model. The first is animated by a 3.0-liter turbocharged V6 producing 340 hp and 332 lb-ft of torque. As for the second, its 2.9-liter twin-turbo V6 allows the driver to play with 440 hp and 406 lb-ft of twist.

The new Cayenne should mirror the engine lineup of the 2017 Panamera, which means we could expect Diesel (V6) and a Diesel S (V8) models to show up.

Hybridization is also an important part of the plan, with the German automaker having already confirmed the Turbo S E-Hybrid, which should pack an insane 680 hp. We can also expect the SUV to be offered in S E-Hybrid trim (think: 462 hp).

And while the previous generations of the Cayenne have also accustomed us to the GTS badge, we could see this disappearing (here's a rendering of the 2019 Cayenne GTS, though).

Now, before we get to climb into the driver's seat of the third-generation Cayenne, we'll have to rely on the way in which Zuffenhausen portrays the car.

And when the carmaker's slogan for the high-riding model is "Sportscar Together", our expectations normally climb through the roof.

In fact, here's an interesting piece of the SUV's press release: "The Porsche Cayenne is based heavily on the iconic 911 sports car: The third edition of the SUV, which has also been enhanced visually, now has mixed tyres and rear-axle steering for the first time. In addition to these typical sports car features, the on-road capabilities are further improved by active all-wheel drive as standard, Porsche 4D Chassis Control, three-chamber air suspension and the Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control (PDCC) electronic roll stabilization system,"

As for the market availability of the new Cayenne, the thing may have debuted in Frankfurt, but it won't reach US roads until mid-2018. However, the configurator is already online, so you can build your ideal spec.
