There are at least two young drivers lined up to take his place in Mallya's team, both of which are considered rising stars of the sport. The first is Nico Hulkenberg, whose manager Willi Weber recently confirmed that he is in talks with Force India's representatives for a 2011 seat, and the second one is Paul di Resta, test and reserve driver for the Indian-backed team throughout 2010.
Apart from participating in almost every Grand Prix of 2010 – either in the Force India garage, or in the VJM03 in the practice sessions – Di Resta was also focused on his programme with Mercedes-Benz in the DTM. This very past weekend, in Shanghai, he secured his first DTM title in career, and insisted his next goal on the list is a debut in Formula One next year.
“I'm certainly hoping I can get a seat there next year because I'd love to continue a long relationship with them. My dream is to become formula one world champion, and that's the next box in my book I've got to tick off. I'll keep praying it happens,” said Di Resta on Monday, a few hours after his title-winning 2nd place in the Shanghai DTM finale.
