Liuzzi Investigated of Tax Ivasion in Italy

Vitantonio Liuzzi's life nowadays is not all milk and honey. Although the Italian driver managed to secure a driving spot with Force India Mercedes for the remainder of the 2010 season, his personal life is giving him a great deal of headaches lately.

According to a report from the ANSA news agency on Friday, Liuzzi is being investigated by Italian tax authorities for allegedly “avoiding paying tax by living in London but still investing in real estate and yachts in Italy.”

A few years ago, MotoGP rider Valentino Rossi was charged with the same kind of offense (as his current residency is listed in the UK). Also, according to the GMM news agency, another couple of Italian sportsmen are investigated by the Italian police for the same charges, namely cyclist Davide Rebillin and rally co-driver Tiziano Sivieri.

Wire reports said the tax police or Guardia di Finanza, and 28-year-old Liuzzi, were not immediately available for comment,” added the report from the ANSA news agency.

Despite a successful weekend at Monza, neither Liuzzi nor teammate Adrian Sutil managed to score some successful lap times during the first practice session of the Singapore GP on Friday. While the news of being investigated by the Italian police seems to have gotten to the 28-year old Italian – he only finished with the 18th best time of the day – Sutil was ranked 12th in the morning timing sheets.

The second practice session on Friday is to end in a few minutes.
