Liuzzi Dreams to Beat Sutil in the 2010 Campaign

Italian racer Vitantonio Liuzzi once again failed to make the Top 10 in a Formula One race, yet it seems his enthusiasm grows inversely proportionate with his poor results in the series. Yes, one might argue that he finished in 11th place in the British Grand Prix, but remember that this happened after some usual frontrunners experienced problems – Felipe Massa, Fernando Alonso – while others simply retired from the race – Robert Kubica.

Additionally, the Italian racer continues to have a hard time coming out of Q1 in qualifying and struggles throughout the Q2 at almost every event. Seldom he manages to squeeze a Q3 entry, and that's usually when he has tons of bad luck the day after, in the race. And it all happens in a time when his teammate Adrian Sutil is finishing consistently in points (Silverstone's was his 6th consecutive time).

Under the circumstances, one should be worried about the future. But not Liuzzi, who insists the second half of the season will belong to him.

Adrian had a really good start to the season, but I need my luck to turn around a little bit because I should have at least double the points I have. It's not a problem of pace or speed, it's more down to having a bit of luck and getting the results we deserve,” said the Force India driver, who is currently 23 points behind his teammate in the standings.

But I think we can be really strong in the second half of the season, especially at tracks like Monza and Spa, and I think I'm in good shape to be ahead of Adrian because we've shown that when the car is working things are different. But first we need to find out what the problem is with my car compared to his. Once we sort that out it won't be a question of pace or speed because we know we are there,” added Liuzzi.

The Italian also expressed his optimism regarding the upcoming race at Hockenheim, whose track should suit the VJM03 better than the one at Silverstone.

We've got some updates coming to the car. Hockenheim will be an important race for us and I think, because it is not as related to downforce as Silverstone, we can be in good shape. (...) I believe at Hockenheim we can improve our position and be more competitive than we were at Silverstone,” concluded Liuzzi.
