Listen to the 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Being Redlined

We’ve heard the 2015 Challenger SRT Hellcat’s menacing growl on multiple occasions so far, with various pre-production models running wild across the country. Nonetheless, we haven’t been treated with the full aural assault of the supercharged Hemi. Until now, that is.

A white example of the 2015 Challenger SRT Hellcat was recently taken in front of the Brampton assembly plant that brings these creatures to our world. The muscle car quickly gathered a crowd and, once the people were done inspecting it, the real show began.

The Hellcat was redlined as part of a concert that once again demonstrated just how much rock and roll the valve-gifted Performance Exhaust can extract from the 6.2 liters of Hemi V8 under the hood.

For what it’s worth, this was a manual, which means it packed a massaged version of the Viper’s Tremec TR6060 six-speed transmission, with the updates being there to cope with the blower’s torque. If you like your gear shifts automatic though, there's no reason to worry. The sluggish five-speed auto of the 2014 model year is a thing of the past. Throughout the 2015 Challenger range, this has been replaced by a new TorqueFlite eight-speed automatic supplied by ZF.

In case you want to know how the engine sounds when witnessed from inside its compartment, you can check out this link. The new Hemi packs many tech tricks, such as a forged-steel crankshaft with induction-hardened bearing surfaces. To make sure this fits your employer’s favorite line (“can cope well with working under pressure”) Chrysler engineers tested this to 13,000 rpm.

Can you believe they had the patience to perform that operation, but still couldn’t find the time to tell us by how much the Hellcat breaks the 600 hp barrier?
