Actress, model and producer Lindsay Morgan Lohan, has just filled a law suit against Take-Two Interactive and subsidiary publisher and developer Rockstar Games, the makers of the world renown video game Grand Theft Auto V. The suit claims one of the game’s characters, Lacey Jonas, is in fact depicting everything from Lindsay’s likeness.
Well, who ever thought this is possible? Ok, we get the actress has been experiencing quite some problems with her drinking issue, which lead to loosing a lot of the fame and celebrity, but still, suing GTA makers? The law suit was filled Wednesday in Manhattan court, New York, and is actually going to happen, believe it or not.
“The portraits of the Plaintiff (Lohan) incorporated her image, likeness, clothing, outfits, Plaintiff’s clothing line products, ensemble in the form of hats, hair style, sunglasses, jean shorts worn by the Plaintiff that were for sale to the public at least two years,” the suit claims, according to Forbes.
Let us look a bit closer at this GTA V character. According to gta Wiki, Lacey Jonas appears hiding down an alleyway from the paparazzi during a random event that occurs in Downtown Vinewood. When she is found by the player she asks you to drive her home. She requests you not kill any of the photographers, as it will bring negative attention towards her. The point is, Lacey Jonas is not even a major character in the game.
However, it’s important to remember that Grand Theft Auto 5 takes place in the fictional city of Lost Santos, which is based on real-life Los Angeles, so it’s only normal for the game to feature characters who are similar to attractive, young Hollywood actresses like Lohan.
Released last year in September, GTA 5 broke industry sales records and became the fastest-selling entertainment product in history, earning $800 million in its first day and $1 billion in its first three days. It won year-end accolades, including Game of the Year awards from several gaming publications.
