Recent years saw both premium and not so premium carmakers focus on things that don’t really matter in the real world. That’s mainly the cause why the dreariest First World motorist problem of today is personalization. Curious about what’s so wrong with having too much options on such a vehicle?
Take the Opel Adam and Adam Rocks as a prime example of the ridiculousness. Those two are your typical FWD city dwellers with three and four-pot engines under their hoods. Still, Opel is adamant their specialness sits in the hundreds of thousands personalization options currently available.

Sorry folks, but a pistachio exterior finish and a checkered roof lining won’t make a humdrum Adam more special than it is with a normal metallic finish and a down-to-earth cabin design. With that being said, Lincoln is playing the customization card better than the company that makes the quirky Adam.

People in the market for a Lincoln don’t personalize it in order to show off at traffic lights

These customers are the type that want that certain paint job and leather color because that’s what makes them tick and they don’t care about the approval of others. Thanks to the Lincoln Black Label suite, the Ford-owned carmaker now offers new interior palettes and exterior paints for its vehicles.

Starting this December, 32 US dealers from 6 states will provide personalized car buying experiences for the MKZ and MKC. We can talk for hours about Venetian leather, exotic wood trim, the Black Label alloy wheels and the four Lincoln Black Label design themes priced from $5,995, but those details can be thoroughly assessed via the release below.

What’s really surprising about Black Label-ized Lincoln cars is that they’re somewhat understated, not showy. That’s what staying classy is all about, ladies and gentlemen. To boot, a customer-oriented program such as the Black Label will pay off greatly for the struggling Lincoln brand in a few years’ time.
