Lincoln and Revel Partner in New Ten-Year Contract

Ever since Matthew Mcconaughey stared in the Lincoln advertorial series, Ford’s luxury brand has been sitting under the spotlight. But it’s not only about marketing their cars through Hollywood celebrities, as the company recently announced their new partnership with renown audio makers Revel, a venture that is to last for the next ten years.

You don’t have to be an artist to make the difference between the sound system of an everyday car and that of a luxury ride. When it comes to products designed for the well-heeled among us, it’s all about the details. With the new business venture, Lincoln becomes the only automotive brand on the market to offer Revel audio systems.

Revel is Harman International’s most premium loudspeaker brand. The new collaboration had the audio makers designing both a premium Revel audio system and a Revel Ultima system for Lincoln. The first model to get the new enhancement is the next-generation Lincoln MKX midsize utility vehicle.

The Lincoln collaboration with Revel is the next step in our commitment to build vehicles that exceed luxury expectations. Revel is synonymous with the finest home speaker systems, and it’s that exceptional audio experience we want our Lincoln drivers to enjoy,” said Mat VanDyke, global director of the auto maker.

Engineers from both companies have worked together to form what they refer to as the Science of Sound in the vehicle design process. Placement, tuning, calibration and number of speakers are unique to each car model to ensure superior audio quality and accuracy.

The Revel system for Lincoln maintains the same standard they have with the home systems, known as point-source architecture. The tweeter and midrange speakers are positioned together, thus improving the accuracy of midrange and high-frequency reproduction. The system is positioned within custom Revel Waveguides to optimize high-frequency dispersion, allowing a seamless blend between the tweeters and midrange speakers.

Technology that works in real-time to rebuild audio details lost in digitally compressed music

The audio systems the cars will have feature QuantumLogic Surround, a next-generation surround-sound technology that delivers an authentic experience while eliminating the smearing effects that often ruin standard surround-sound systems. One feature that we find really interesting is Revel’s Clari-Fi, a patented Harman technology that works in real-time to rebuild audio details lost in digitally compressed music.

According to the company, vehicles equipped with a Revel Ultima sound system will include upgraded aluminum speaker grilles for an elegant experience.
