Limited Run BMW 1 Series M Coupe for US and Canada

Great news for Bimmer fans living in the great US and neighboring Canada: as promised, the latest goodie wearing the M logo to match the BMW emblem will land on the continent this spring.

The bad news for the same Bimmer fans living in the aforementioned countries is that there will not be many units to go around. According to Auto123, citing Manfred Braunl, BMW Canada CEO, only 600 units of the model will make it into the US and even fewer, 200, over the northern border into Canada.

The price of the model in the US has been set by BMW at $47,010, but so far there's no information on how much the model will be priced in Canada. The good, and at the same time the bad news for Canadians is that the car will be more expensive in their country, because it will be better equipped.

But, in an M, it's not the fabric of the seat that counts, but what's under the hood. Both countries, as the entire BMW M-selling world for that matter, will get the 1 Series M with the same engine: a 2,979 cc in-line six-cylinder twin-turbocharged unit, good for 340 hp and 450 Nm (or 500, if you activate the overboost function). In our native language, that translates into a naught to 62 mph sprint of 4.9 seconds and a top speed of 155 mph (250 km/h).

As standard, the latest M will come packing the usual Dynamic Stability Control, brake assistant Dynamic Brake Control (DBC), drive-off assistant, Cornering Brake Control (CBC), anti-fading function and dry brake function.
