Limited Edition Shelby Timepiece From MARCH LA.B

In spite of being a relatively new brand, MARCH LA.B timepieces was able to attract Carroll Shelby's attention into making a limited edition collection together. Shelby is probably best known by his work with Ford, spawning entire generations of Shelby Cobra 'super' Mustang cars, as well as other high-power models.

Evoking the spirit of the American muscle car, Shelby and MARCH LA.B worked together to design and produce two limited edition timepieces based on the MARCH LA.B's AM 1 model.

The steel watch was increased in size to a 40mm diameter and designed with influences from a very special concept car. The 1968 Shelby Green Hornet prototype was only built in a small number and eventually forgotten for years. One or two are left and were restored to their original state. The green body of the Green Hornet was captured in a few components of the watch, including a green crystal over the caseback, on the automatic movement version, and the text color on the date disc.

The wood grain on the dial is inspired from the Shelby Green Hornet's interior wood inlays. A watch designed with the help of the famous icon wouldn't be complete without his signature, which has been recreated on the dial.

Although the brand founder and designer at MARCH LA.B is French, he has been a devoted fan (and owner) of American muscle cars for years.

Two versions of the AM 1 Shelby watch will be available, both of which will have 40 mm steel casings, with sapphire crystals and Swiss mechanisms. There will be a quartz movement version, limited to 170 pieces and priced at US $1,500. The second version will contain a Swiss ETA 2892-2 automatic movement and will be even more exclusive with only 30 units to be made and a price tag of US $2500. The automatic version will have a metal bracelet, while the quartz one will have a vintage perforated leather strap. Its package has the same matching wood grain look and, besides the watch, contains a scale model of the Green Hornet.

The collection is expected to be launched by MARCH LA.B in mid November 2010.
