Limited Edition Porsche Design Watch Selling for $270k in Dubai Mall

So what if it costs up to four times more than a Porsche car itself? After all, it could make you the talk of any exclusive cocktail party. We are talking here about a limited edition Porsche Design watch, which is currently up for grabs at the Dubai Mall.

The price tag on this timekeeping ‘toy’? Designed by the carmaker and manufactured by Swiss watchmaker Eterna, it sells for just Dh990,000 or about $270,000.

"People want to be unique and different, they do not want to walk down the street and see someone wearing the same thing," said Wael al Takhin, the general manager for Porsche Design in the UAE

There have been just 50 limited edition Indicator watches made, eleven of them made available with the certain design and bearing the specific price tag, Bornrich reports. The Dubai Mall store placed an order for two of the limited edition watches back in 2008, and took delivery of the first in 2009. That example was bought not long after by an owner of a global drinks chain.

It looks like the one on offer now, the number 7 unique Indicator, was delivered six months ago. As all the Indicators, this one also comes with a mix of 18-carat gold, titanium and rubber.

The clasps and body are made of rose gold, with a titanium face and rubber straps that look like Porsche tires. The face includes a stop watch and second timer, and a dial turns from green to red when the watch runs low on power. The natural movement on the wrist will keep the Indicator powered, but if it does run low it is simply a matter of rewinding.
