Limited Edition Digitizer Track Bike Costs $5,000

Cinecycle has recently curated Japanese artist Kenzo Minami to create a project that combines form, function and design, and the result was this limited edition track bike dubbed Digitizer. Built by Affinity Cycles, the bike features custom graphics and the “Kissena“ track frame as a key component.

Kenzo’s inspiration for “Digitizer” came from the nostalgia of his childhood, with the highly noticeable colors and patterns, even when the bicycle is in motion, bornrich.org says.

Other important features of the track bike includes 88mm carbon tubular rims hand laced to Phil Wood Hubs, Sugino 75 cranks, Thomson seat post and stem, Fizik Arione saddle, Deda Pista bar and Tufo tubular tires.

“Within the chaos of visual information found on the city streets it is important that the design allows the bicycle to stand out and be recognized by both pedestrians and cars alike,” said Minami. "The colors and patterns on the bicycle were carefully conceived and laid out with the understanding that they will not only be seen when the frame and wheels are static but more importantly how they will be transformed when the bicycle is in motion."

“Digitizer synthesizes concepts that are fundamental to our culture with regard to how technology can inform and transform our perception of space. Affinity Cycles and Kenzo Minami have come together to create a bicycle that expresses how the cyclist, even in our modern digital age, still represents the most simple and effective union of man and machine,” added Cinecycle CEO Daniel Leeb.

The Digitizer is currently on display at Wired’s NYC store, selling for $5,000. However, it seems that there will be only 20 units built in total, each coming with Digitizer limited DVD by Cinecycle.
