Did you know there are some writers out there that start their book with the last pages? Some of you may think it’s a way to spoil it, but we say it sometimes makes sense. It’s the case with this high-end luxury timepiece that uses aerospace technology. We’ll mention the price upfront: $28,500.
All things Star Wars related come to most of the movie’s fans delight, being it a Halloween costume, a LEGO TIE Fighter or some other collectible. This is not a game, though, since we’re talking real money here. So the next natural question to ask is whether or not it’s worth the price.

As opposed to the original Blockade Runner from 1977 Star Wars, for instance, this is actually the result of considerable engineering, innovation, and exclusive design. First of all, Devon Works is not just the regular watchmaker. Their timepieces are unique as they use a series of conveyor belts made of glass-reinforced nylon to tell the time rather than using a traditional dial. There’s a video showing how that works exactly below. Worry not, you’ll like it.

Until hitting the play button, however, you’ll want to know how the system works in the first place. The arrangement uses a hybrid electro-mechanical power to run, with multiple high-tech optical recognition cells, micro-step motors, and 313 electrical contacts. We’re talking about a wrist watch that has over 300 separate parts, all coming straight from a California-based aerospace company.

We’re not saying that the watch itself isn’t unusual, but we love how they thought about every single detail. The exterior design draws heavily on the Empire’s aesthetic. We’re talking about all the dark nuances you can find: black, diamond-like carbon coating, stainless steel, pointed silver screws like the ones on Vader’s helmet and so on.

Take a closer look at it and you’ll discover a center hexagon mirrored after Sith Lord’s TIE Fighter on the inside. Apparently, the belt system itself was created in red and green so that it reflects the details on Darth Vader’s center console. Only 500 pieces will be produced with the first ones being on their way to first buyers this month.

Since you’re kind of dressing up while wearing the timepiece, each watch comes in a specially designed TIE Fighter box that also has a free pair of TIE Fighter cufflinks inside.
