According to a report by autocar.co.uk, all future models produced by the two manufacturers, Jaguar and Land Rover, will rely on this type of materials, just like the XJ sedan which comes with a 40 percent lighter chassis compared to a traditional steel body.
“JLR is planning to have all its future cars constructed with lightweight aluminium bodies resulting in considerable savings in weight, and reduction in CO2 emissions," Ratan Tata was quoted as saying by the aforementioned source.
The XJ, which will arrive in the United States in December, will feature three different engine configurations, as it follows: 5.0l naturally aspirated XJ and XJL (385 hp), 5.0l XJ and XJL Supercharged (470 hp), 5.0l XJ and XJL Supersport (510hp). Pricing in the United States will start at $72,500 for the base model and go as high as $115,000 for the XJL Supersport generating 510 horsepower.
