There are quite a few ways in which you can go about restoring an old muscle car, some more generally accepted than others.

An old, unrestored muscle car will probably fire up the "project" light bulb in everybody's mind, but the way people choose to do it varies depending on their preferences. For instance, you could restore the body to a tee, but swap the V8 heart for an electric powertrain if you were so inclined. Sure, your soul would forever burn in hell, but you could do it.

Generally speaking, the right way to go about is to try and bring it back to its original form as much as possible. A lowered suspension or some larger, fancier wheels are accepted, but nothing to mess with the vehicle's character.

But what if you happen to be passionate about muscle cars AND off-road? Well, then you might end up with something like this glorious 1972 Dodge Challenger that's currently on sale on Craigslist. The lifted restomod looks just superb and, given the extensive modifications, will likely put a lot of off-roaders to shame out in the wild.

The owner claims he has invested $40,000 in the car over the years, all backed by receipts, which makes the selling price of $29,000 all the more confusing. He goes over most of the enhancements on his Dodge, from the more obvious ones (the M1009 military chassis and frame) to the Bluetooth-enabled stereo and 4.1 double-amplified speaker system.

Have a look at the Craigslist ad if you want to know all the details, suffice to say the car looks and, by all accounts, drives impeccably. The owner even included a link to a YouTube video of the lifted Dodge doing a bit of off-roading (embedded below) just to whet our appetite, and I don't know about you, but the trick worked on me. You never know you want a jacked-up 4x4 muscle car until you see the right one, apparently.
