As it was expected, at this year’s Life Ball (Europe’s biggest AIDS charity event), the Life Ball MINI 2009, designed by The Blonds for Katy Perry was the main attraction, as it opened the show conveying VIP passengers David and Phillipe Blond along with Patricia Field.

The American designer duo called ‘The Blonds’ were responsible for the fashion show at the opening event in Vienna, and also in charge with the makeover of the Life Ball MINI 2009, along with Katy Perry herself.

“MINI is just like our fashions – glamorous, sexy, cheerful and never boring,”
says David Blond.

The Life Ball MINI has so far been designed by famous fashion icons such as Missoni (2003), Ferré (2004) and Versace (2005), followed by Diesel in 2006 and Agent Provocateur last year. It was now the The Blonds' turn to design one in order to generate funds for projects battling AIDS.

The vehicle has a pink and black leopard look. That's a plus, since it's quite trendy for this summer or so they say. We are no fashion experts, but the interior is quite disturbing, as the seats and a part of the dashboard are lined with black imitation fur.

The MINI can be easily described as glamorous, but maybe it's just too much glamour. Embroidered tassels with silver threads and rhinestones are attached to the seats and the wing mirrors, while the mats are covered in black, glittery, deep-pile carpeting. It's just too much for the human eye.

Any visitor of the event has a chance to win the Life Ball MINI, as the car will be given in a prize draw. As it looks, we hope it's not a man who wins it... Tickets will be on sale until the end of August and the official draw will take place on  September 1, 2009.

A ticket costs 10 euros and can be purchased at all Life Ball events from all BMW and MINI dealers in Austria, directly from the Life Ball, from the official distributor of Austria’s “class lottery” Prokopp and, of course, over the Internet.
