Yes, folks, the moment has finally come for a Ford Mustang Liberty Walk body kit. We have no idea who decided the 'Stang wasn't wide enough, but Kato Wataru and his crew are leaving no cult car untouched.
The Japanese company is already well known for its bolt-on fenders that have destroyed the resale value of many supercars. But they also make bits for more affordable machines, such as the Nissan GT-R, E92 M3, C204 C63 AMG and even the old MINI hatchback.
There's no denying that the Mustang deserves a kit like this. There's a Liberty Walk version of the Dodge Challenger after all! In fact, we're wondering why it took them so long to start work.
You could say that the tuner is looking into the past of the pony car, since a mid-life facelift has left the Mustang looking completely different to what we see here.
As with other LW-clad cars, the Ford coupe now sports four bolt-on fender flares. A deep chin spoiler also brings the front closer to the ground, like the blades of a grass cutter. But the suspension is also chopped, which is what you want to have in combination with those oversized wheels. The Japanese company has obviously also finished a new hood with vents for all you drifter types.
At the back, there's a massive duck tail spoiler which is made from three pieces to account for the opening of the trunk. An air diffuser has also been installed, but Liberty Walk usually develops several versions of this piece, sometimes a wing as well.
Obviously, the project is still not completed, but we can say that the bits and bobs won't be cheap. As a complete kit, Liberty Walk will probably charge more than $10,000. Will there be a CFRP version? It's hard to tell, but the Mustang parts and accessories market is huge and stretches to all corner of the globe. Anything from a dangerous drift machine to a show stopper can be spliced from this mutant.
