Lexus LF-LC Production Confirmed

We really couldn't have more words of admiration for the Lexus LF-LC Concept. It was, without a doubt, one of the coolest concept of the motor show scene in 2012.

The LF-LC was a very avant garde creation of the Calty design studio in California. Looking beyond its beautiful lines, great attention to detail was shown. The headlights, for example, are shaped like a old video camera with changeable lenses.

We've been quietly hoping Lexus would make this into a real like car, a bespoke model to rival BMW's 6 Series, but in the typical Japanese way, not on German terms.

The news we were waiting for finally came today, as Lexus’ vice president-marketing Brian Smith told WardsAuto the car is indeed going to enter production.

“That was (intended as) a concept car, and I think it surprised everybody, including us, when Japan said due to overwhelming response they decided to do it. It’s a huge win,” Smith said.

It's too early to say what the engine for this car will be, but we'd point out the concept was a 500 horsepower hybrid, which we think is the way to go considering it will be a halo coupe.

Mihnea's favorite cars have already been built, the so-called modern classics from the '80s and '90s. He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
