It seems like the Japanese finally got a grip on what they should do to finally get a breath of fresh air on the auto market. At the moment, Lexus is still using naturally aspirated engines in their line-up, being one of the last few manufacturers that didn’t yet go into turbocharged territory.
Whilst this might appeal to the more retro ones out there, that like high-revving engines, the performances of their cars are really low, keeping up with the rest of the industry harder every day. Finally someone over at Toyota must’ve said something about this and the most recent statements from Teru Ogawa, Lexus’ manager of product design, claim that the company will look into turbo units.

As usual, BMW is once again used as a target to take down. Ogawa’s statements claim that the new 2-liter turbocharged units from Lexus will have to be at least as powerful as the Germans’ N20 units in both HP and torque. That means they will have to have at least 245 HP and 350 Nm of torque, the same amount as the current 3.5-liter NA V6 from Lexus.
