With the Paris Motor Show just around the corner, another surprise reserved for the French venue has now been blown. We're talking about the Lexus UX concept, which you can see in the image here.
While not being accompanied by other pics, this image is enough to let us know what Lexus' intentions are. Note that the concept comes from the automaker's Old Continent styling center, but its aggressive angular lines are set to draw global attention.

Despite the coupe-like roofline, which follows the trends of the moment, the UX packs five doors. Then again, you'd expect the high-riding proposal to offer a high degree of practicality, especially since the concept previews a future compact SUV.

Set to be slotted beneath the successful NX (check it out in the gallery to your right), the UX should keep its name en route to Lexus showrooms across the world - we'll remind you that, back in February, we learned about Lexus Australia trademarking the UX 200, UX 250 and, of course, the UX 250h designations.

The production model would compete against popular compact high-riding vehicles such as the MINI Countryman or the Audi Q2.

In fact, coming straight from the wild side of the rumor mill, we have a few reports indicating that the UX might "replace" the Lexus CT. With the hybrid-only powertrain and the hatchback body limiting the CT's appeal, especially on the hatch-unfriendly US market, we might not get a new generation of the compact.

Whether the Lexus UX will replace the CT or will be offered alongside an actual replacement for the hybrid hatchback, the trademarks mentioned above should confirm a complete engine range, one that will allow the production model to fight its rivals properly.

Oh, and by the way, the UX designation has a deeper meaning. You see, Lexus has used this name in the past, turning to it to abbreviate User Experience, a concept aimed at simplifying vehicle controls and thus allow the driver to focus on the road. Well, the carmaker mixed the image we have here with a few details, stating the UX concept comes with "imaginative technologies for an immersive driver experience,"

We expect this statement to spread past the cameras replacing the rear-view mirrors, perhaps introducing some pieces of tech that will actually make it into production. With the Paris Motor Show press days kicking off on September 29, we don't have too much waiting to do until we get to dig deeper into this luxury compact matter.
