According to latest researches Lexus, Porsche and Mercedes-Benz are the top three franchises for retaining service customers within the franchised dealer network.
The study conducted by Warranty Direct shows that Lexus retains 58% of customers with vehicles registered between 2001 - 2010, Porsche comes second with 54% and Mercedes-Benz got on third with 49%.
Warranty Direct performed the study on more than 70,000 customers, who indicated whether they can would prefer to service their vehicles at a franchised dealer or at an independent garage.
The study also shows that one in six of 10 year old car owners still use main dealers to service their cars. Even when the vehicle is three years out of warranty, one in four drivers will continue to choose franchised over non-franchised servicing.
